In Memory of Karen Brown

It is with the heaviest heart that we share the sad news with you all that our beloved Karen Brown passed away on April 15, 2024.

Her effervescent personality and brilliance have played an immeasurable role in the progression of NAMTA for the last 21 years. It is hard to fully describe who Karen was and we are grateful that your experiences can fill in where our words fall short. Karen set the tone for the personal and collaborative communication style we try to lead Namta with. It was not uncommon for a member to call her with a simple question and end up talking for hours - many of you (like us) shared your life’s highs and lows with Karen as she had the unmatched ability to speak to everyone as if they were a dear friend.

We will mourn the loss of Karen both personally and professionally and her absence has left an irreplaceable gap amongst the NAMTA staff. As we grapple with this loss, we are reminded of the rich history we are all so fortunate to share in an industry that often feels more like family than coworkers.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Karen Brown has kindly requested that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Karen's name.
