ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY MARCH 1, 2011 APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED FROM BOTH UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS The NAMTA Foundation for the Visual Arts believes the enduring vitality of the creative and visual arts industry lies heavily upon the shoulders of today’s art students. For that reason, the Foundation annually awards scholarships to help students offset secondary education costs. Scholarship checks are sent directly to the university, college or technical institute, including international schools, and may be used for tuition and/or books. The NAMTA Foundation Educational Scholarship and the NAMTA Foundation Visual Arts Major Scholarship funds are governed and administered by the NAMTA Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The number and amount of scholarships shall be determined each year by the NAMTA Foundation Board of Trustees. For more information on the NAMTA Foundation Scholarships, contact us at 704/892-6244. NAMTA Foundation Educational Scholarship:The NAMTA Foundation is no longer awarding new Educational Scholarships. If you are a current recipient of the Educational Scholarship and would like to apply for renewal, please contact Leah Siffringer at lsiffringer@namta.org for an application. NAMTA Foundation Visual Arts Major Scholarship:The NAMTA Foundation Visual Arts Major Scholarship is open to the general public. Click here for 2010 winners. Must be majoring or planning to major in the field of visual arts, such as painting, drawing, sketching, sculpture and other creative arts - excluding music or the performing arts - as an art major or an art educator. Must submit a minimum of two (2), with a maximum of three (3), examples of work specifying the type of medium that was used for each. Examples will be accepted by electronic means only (CD or email). DO NOT submit original pieces, as they will not be accepted. If more than (3) examples are submitted, the NAMTA staff will select (3) to be considered. Must graduate from high school or its equivalent before July 1 of the year in which they will receive the scholarship, if awarded. Must submit a high school or equivalent transcript. Will be judged primarily on artistic talent and/or potential, and their degree of interest and enthusiasm for the fine arts.
